VIC:Driver in 12-person crash tests positive
Investigations are continuing into a singe vehicle accident in Melbourne's northwest
that has left ten children injured.
Two adults and 10 children were crammed into a four-wheel-drive when it left the Western
Highway at Rockbank and rolled several times, at about five yesterday afternoon.
Police say the driver, a 34-year-old woman, was unlicensed and returned a positive
breath test at the crash scene.
They're now waiting for the results of blood alcohol analysis before interviewing the
woman later today.
All of the children, aged seven and under, were conveyed to hospital with injuries
including abdominal and possible fractures.
A man also in the car was arrested at the scene for being drunk in a public place.

VIC:Girl threatens to post more Saints photos
MELBOURNE, Dec 21 AAP - The teenager releasing photos of naked AFL players says she
will "definitely" post more once she opens a new Facebook page.
The 17-year-old's Facebook page was deleted on Monday after a Federal Court injunction,
which followed the publication of the naked and explicit photos of three St Kilda players
- club captain Nick Riewoldt, Nick Dal Santo and Zac Dawson.
The teenager also denied she attempted to sell the photos, despite several media outlets
claiming they were approached by the girl shopping the images around.
"I actually haven't attempted to sell them," the teenager told ABC Radio on Tuesday.
"I've never once asked for money or anything.
"I know a few media outlets have found out about them and I showed them, but I never
once asked for money."
The teenager, who claimed earlier this year she fell pregnant after having sex with
two St Kilda players, said she wasn't in it for the money and was driven by an attempt
to get back at the AFL.
"I just wanted to get back at them basically because ...just the way I was treated
by the AFL, it wasn't right."
The teenager also claims to have taken the photos herself, although St Kilda said in
a statement it believes the images were obtained illegally.
She said she hasn't been in contact with any AFL players since August.
She claims to have had the photos since April.
Asked if she was intending to release more photos, she replied: "Yeah definitely, once
I make a new Facebook page ... who's going to stop me?"
The teenager said she is staying with her parents in Queensland, who are currently
not speaking to her.
The AFL and St Kilda Football Club in May cleared two players of inappropriate behaviour
after allegations they had sex with a teenage schoolgirl.

Qld: Lowest-paid receive pay rise from Sept 1

Qld: Lowest-paid receive pay rise from Sept 1
BRISBANE, Aug 21 AAP - Queensland's lowest-paid workers are set to receive a $16.20
a week pay rise from September 1, after a decision by the industrial umpire.
While unions argued for a $27.80 a week rise, and employers wanted a freeze, the Queensland
Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) on Friday ordered a flat-rate increase of $16.20
in the state's minimum wage and all award rates and an increase in allowances of 2.5 per
cent.
The decision received a cautious welcome from unions, which warned that those relying
on the minimum wage continue to lag behind workers with bargained wage outcomes.
The decision will see the Queensland minimum wage rise to $568.20 a week from September 1.
Queensland Council of Unions general secretary Ron Monaghan said workers relying on
the minimum wage were mainly women in casual jobs working for small businesses in non-unionised
workplaces.
"We estimate there are around 1.3 million such workers throughout Australia in industries
such as child care, hospitality and cleaning," Mr Monaghan said.
Mr Monaghan said the rise was a "reasonable outcome", given the rise in the cost of
living and the economic situation over the past 12 months.
Industrial Relations Minister Cameron Dick said the rise was economically responsible.
"The decision provides a reasonable increase to Queensland's lowest paid workers during
tough economic times," Mr Dick said.
The increase applies to up to 170,000 workers who are employed by non-corporations
and who are reliant on an award for their wages, as well as workers who do not have any
coverage by an industrial award or agreement.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland director David Goodwin said the decision
was unreasonable and would lead to further job losses.
"Queensland businesses are experiencing severe financial difficulties with a number
of businesses already laying off staff or considering further reducing staff numbers,"
he said.
"It was not unreasonable to freeze wages for the next year in a measure to protect jobs."

Vic: Driver's 0.345 reading staggers police
MELBOURNE, April 9 AAP - A drink driver's weekend blood-alcohol reading of 0.345 is
"staggering", a top Victorian police officer has said.
Another police officer said it was the highest reading he had ever seen.
Assistant Commissioner Noel Ashby said the driver, who was pulled over in Melbourne's
outer east about 4.40pm (AEST) yesterday, may have had about 25-30 alcoholic drinks to
have such a high blood-alcohol level.
Police pulled over the 37-year-old man in Pleasant Drive, Heathmont after receiving
reports of an erratic driver.
He blew 0.345, almost seven times the legal driving limit.
"That is staggering, I can't use any better word," Mr Ashby told Southern Cross Broadcasting.
"How someone in this day and age, with a focus right across the community on drink-driving,
with the cultural shifts that we've made ... when we see the new generation of drivers
coming through, they don't drink and drive anywhere near as much as people used to.
"It is now socially unacceptable to drink and drive and every now and then someone
jumps out with a reading like this guy, 0.345, and it is staggering."
Police were so concerned for the man's welfare yesterday that after breath testing
him, they drove him to Maroondah Hospital for a medical check before driving him home.
Senior Constable Daryl White was another one amazed by the high reading.
"In the 18 years I have been in the police force it was the highest reading I have
ever detected in a living person," Sen Const White said.
Before taking him to hospital, police immediately suspended the man's licence after
further testing him at Ringwood police station.
He will be charged with driving under the influence and other driving offences.

Fed: Gillard defends dumping of woman from frontbench
PERTH, Dec 7 AAP - Deputy opposition leader Julia Gillard has defended the decision
to dump a woman from the frontbench in favour of a man, despite criticism from female
Labor MPs.
Ms Gillard said Labor needed to put forward its best possible team and South Australian
MP Annette Hurley would continue to do good work despite being dumped by her right faction.
Labor backbencher Jennie George today said it was regrettable a woman had been tapped
on the shoulder.
"There's a lot of frustration in the caucus because we have developed a culture of
a mutual protection society," Ms George told reporters in Canberra.
But Ms Gillard today defended the decision.
"I can understand that Jennie was a little bit anxious about that but ... obviously
(Opposition Leader) Kevin (Rudd) was very keen to shape the frontbench team," Ms Gillard
told ABC Radio in Perth.
"Annette Hurley will continue to be out there arguing the cause for Labor, she's a
South Australian senator and you should expect to hear more from Annette.
"But with shaping the frontbench team today, both Kevin and I thought it very important
that we saw Peter Garrett come forward, that we saw Craig Emerson come forward, we saw
a newcomer but someone who has already made a significant contribution in Chris Bowen
come forward.
"And of course we saw Bob McMullan who is an experienced hand and a wise-head return
to the frontbench."
Mr Garrett, Mr Bowen, Mr Emerson and Mr McMullan were elected unopposed to the shadow
ministry at a 10-minute Labor caucus meeting this morning.
Senator Hurley did not renominate after being dumped by her right faction last night
to make way for both Mr Bowen and Dr Emerson.
The decision leaves just seven women on Labor's 32-person frontbench.
That's still more than the five on the government frontbench.

Today's home offers all the comforts we need.(News)
Byline: Jack Mabley
My favorite gadget at home is the garage door opener.
The TV zapper comes close, but it can't compete with memories of years of getting out of the car in a driving rain or a blizzard to pull open the garage door.
If the door opened out instead of up, I often had to fight snow drifts.
I have a personality quirk that resists change. From my 40s on, I (and usually my wife) vowed we'd never have a second car. Or a dishwasher. Or a microwave oven. Or cable TV. Or a garage door opener. Or a TV zapper. Or a cellular phone.
Of course we enjoy all of these conveniences and necessities and luxuries now except for the cellular phone, which I still don't want.
Why the initial resistance? I wish I knew.
My wife and I are enjoying the first week of our 60th year of wedded bliss. (She was a child bride, just out of her teens.)
We don't feel particularly old. I still have a full-time job. She has a full schedule of volunteer work. We're both active tennis players.
We sat in our old-fashioned living room in our old-fashioned home and concluded that we were, and are ... what's a nice word ... unconventional.
We have absolutely no interest in the home of the future with all its gadgets and computers and buttons that are supposed to make life easier.
In my mind they're just a lot more things to break. The coming century will bring the glory days of repairmen charging $75 an hour.
How does this one grab you? It's the toilet of the future (as if our present loo isn't adequate).
The toilet of the future has been built by Matsushita Electric in Japan, where the electronics people hope to cash in on the home of the future.
U.S. News describes this toilet as a cross between an ejector seat and an electric chair.
As you balance on the seat it records your weight. You grab the electrodes on the arm and your body fat is measured. When you finally get down to business a sensor in the bowl measures ... uh, the contents, and sends the data to a central control, or to your doctor for analysis.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll leave the toilet that thinks to Generations X and Y.
Fran and I are unconventional in ways I won't dwell on. I'll build a case on our rejection of all the technological marvels that await us that we don't want.
The future lounge chair will massage you as you watch a huge, crystal clear TV screen bringing you the same yuck that you get today on your dinky TV set.
The chair will have space for a phone, and a zapper to which you give spoken directions.
You can phone a nearby restaurant for delivery of dinner, or even push some buttons to activate an oven in the kitchen.
All this without leaving your chair. Your body can atrophy along with your brain.
If you get out of your chair to, say, use that marvelous toilet, rooms will automatically heat or cool, light up or darken.
I think Bill Gates has this stuff in his new $50 million home in Seattle. The only thing I envy about Gates is the view from his porch, if he has a porch.
Everybody except you and me will have cellular phones, and I'm not sure about you. The atmosphere will be saturated with phone messages from anywhere to everywhere.
You won't even have to go shopping. You can do it on the Internet already without leaving that lounge chair.
All of these wonders are going to be very expensive. The manufacturers aren't in it to help mankind. They're in it to make money. They want to build their own homes like Bill Gates.
They won't do it with my money. Unconventional is somewhat synonymous with comfortable and contented.
Great Plains grabs FRx, PWA in e-comm strategy.
FARGO, N.D. -- Less than two months after the parent of its cross-country rival Sage Software acquired Best Software, Great Plains announced the acquisitions of two vendors whose technologies overlap Best.
Within hours of each other, Great Plains issued separate announcements that it had distinct, definitive agreements to acquire both Denver-based FRx Software, one of the middle market's best-known developers of business reporting and analysis applications, and PWA Group, a United Kingdom-based developer of human resource and payroll software.
The deals could have a combined value of more than $100 million. Great Plains plans to close them by issuing FRx one million shares of its stock, and issuing PWA 407,000 shares and $9.5 million in cash. Great Plains' stock was trading at $70.50 per share the day before the pending deals were announced, but that may not be the stock price on which the deals are based.
Great Plains said that it plans to focus on electronic commerce product development with both companies after they come into its fold. The Fargo, N.D,-based Great Plains may also be signaling that it intends to become the uncontested champion among middle-market financial applications vendors.
The deals were announced less than two months after Sage plc, the parent of Irvine, Calif.-based, Sage, initiated its acquisition of Best Software, the middle market's leading developer of fixed assets and human resources software with close to 50,000 users of its FAS and Abra product lines.
At the time, Sage and Best officials said that Great Plains had tried, unsuccessfully, to acquire Best. They also indicated that the most likely way for any one vendor to dominate the middle market would be by acquiring the vendors of well-established products in that segment.
"Size does matter," said Sage chief executive David Hanna. "It's now a two-horse race and we are the ones best-positioned to take a leadership position."
Great Plains' latest deals seriously challenge Hanna's contention by bolstering its position in the United States and internationally, and in two of Best Software's specialty technology areas -- human resources and analytics. Earlier this year, Great Plains acquired Forestar Group, the developer of fixed assets management software, another Best specialty.
Moreover, the two latest deals could further bolster Great Plains' capabilities in electronic commerce, an area where it has been a trend setter among middle-market accounting software vendors. For example, Great Plains was the first middle-market vendor to make its applications available via an Internet-based application service provider system, and has been among the first to roll out electronic commerce modules.
Great Plains said that it hopes to work with PWA's existing technology base to "further deliver on its vision of automating all processes that occur between a company and its employees." PWA's products include an "E-Xtend" line that utilizes corporate intranets to allow employees to automatically update their human resource information and enable managers to more readily access that information.
With FRx, Great Plains said that it hopes to develop a "broad suite of Web-centric applications." FRx, along with Great Plains, belongs to a consortium of technology and accounting industry interests developing "XML-based Financial Reporting Markup Language," also known as XFRML -- a programming language that formats financial reports for transport across the Internet and for viewing on browser-equipped computers.
The FRx deal has the greater implications on middle-market, U.S.-based companies, because the Denver-based company's reporting and analysis products integrate with more than 25 other brand-name software applications, including products from Great Plains' rivals Epicor, Solomon and Infinium. Great Plains has had an original equipment manufacturer agreement with FRx since 1994.
Upon completing the acquisition, FRx will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary and continue marketing through its existing distribution agreements with other vendors, while looking to develop new distribution relationships, Great Plains said. Chris Scherpenseel, former FRx chief operating officer, will assume the role of president of the Great Plains' FRx subsidiary.
Great Plains said that it plans on "integrating" PWA operations into its own, but did not specify how that company will be structured after the acquisition is completed.
Any initiatives with PWA will probably be geared more toward companies of $100 million or more in annual revenue, which represents the high-end of Great Plains' existing customer base, as well as the high end of the middle market.
PWA specializes in what Great Plains calls "upper-tier, middle-market companies." It provides its software products and related consulting and training services to more than 1,400 customers in 58 countries, including 1,000 in the United Kingdom.
"Combining our strengths and talents with PWA's will accelerate our ability to deliver comprehensive e-business human resource and payroll solutions to the upper-tier of the mid-market," said Great Plains chief operating officer Jodi Uecker-Rust. "Our expanded solution-offering increases our global reach and helps to further define our market leadership."

(Amex: ONX), a Thermo Electron company, today reported that revenues for the quarter ended July 3, 1999, were $34.7 million, compared with $38.4 million for the same period in 1998. Net income was $0.7 million, or $.05 per diluted share, compared with $3.2 million, or $.21 per diluted share, last year. The 1999 second quarter results include a pretax restructuring charge of $0.3 million. Excluding restructuring costs, net income for the current quarter would have been $0.9 million, or $.06 per diluted share.
"Customers in certain markets continued to spend cautiously this quarter, which is reflected in our financial performance," said Dr. William J. Zolner, president and chief executive officer of ONIX Systems. "Yet, while revenues were down, several of our businesses reported increased orders late in the quarter, evidence that some of our markets may be strengthening. For instance, sales of our production automation products for the oil and gas industry and our consistency monitors for the pulp and paper markets were on the rise, despite softness in these industries as a whole. Additionally, I am pleased to report that we completed a marketing and sales agreement with a major German instrument manufacturer to be its exclusive U.S. representative for infrared-based, on-line gas analysis systems for the process and environmental monitoring industries. These technologies provide a natural fit with our existing gas chromatography, process mass spectrometry, and on-line sulfur-detection capabilities."

Chilean champion.
Although Brazil is the investor favorite in Latin America, Chile remains the country with the best business environment, according to the 2011 Latin Business Index from Latin Business Chronicle.
The index broadly measures the cLimate for business in 18 countries in Latin America. It focuses on five categories, using a methodology revised from 2010. The categories and their components are:
* Macro environment: Percent GDP growth in 2009, 2010, estimated 2011 and forecast 2012, and percent inflation for those years.
* Corporate environment: taxes, labor environment, access to capital for entrepreneurs, ease of doing business and economic freedom.
* Globalization and competitiveness: globalization, competitiveness, tariffs and security.
* Infrastructure level. Transport, technology penetration, access to water and quality of electricity supply.
* Political environment: political freedom, political stability, political outlook, judicial independence, business policies of government, transparency and intellectual property rights.
[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]
What sets Chile apart from all other Latin American nations is its superior corporate environment. Chile scores a whopping 7.02 points in that category, far outpacing the next best performers in corporate environment: Mexico (6.35) and Colombia (5.33).
Chile has by far the best tax environment, the best labor environment, best access to capital for entrepreneurs and most economic freedom. But it ranks fourth in ease of doing business, including opening and closing a business, trailing Mexico, Peru and Colombia in that component of the corporate category.
At 17 percent, Chile's corporate tax rate is the second-lowest in Latin America (only Paraguay has a lower rate). Chile also boasts the lowest tax rate as a percent of profits, and the number of tax payments and hours needed to comply with tax regulations are among the lowest in Latin America.
Chile's labor environment outperforms its neighbors, thanks to such factors as having no restrictions on night and holiday work, that it doesn't pay premiums for such work and that it has one of the lowest-paid annual leaves, according to World Bank data. Chile has no minimum wage for an apprentice and has the region's second-lowest severance pay for redundancy dismissal (12 weeks of salary), although regular
dismissals cost more. Along with EL Salvador, Chile receives the best marks from executives in Latin America when it comes to flexibility of wage determination, and the country has the lowest "brain drain," according to an executive opinion survey from the Swiss-based World Economic Forum.
When it comes to technology, Chile can boast Latin America's highest penetration of PCs and broadband Internet, according to the Latin Technology Index from Latin Business Chronicle.
Chile also outperforms in its political environment. It is the least corrupt country in Latin America, according to German watchdog Transparency International. Meanwhile, Chile ranks as the freest economy in Latin America, according to the Heritage Foundation, and it is among the three freest countries in terms of civil rights and political liberties, according to Freedom House.
Chile's intellectual property rights are the best in Latin America and stronger than countries such as Spain and South Korea, according to the Intellectual Property Rights Index from the Property Rights Alliance.

VOYAGER NETWORKS: Network manager working hours on th the rise.
M2 PRESSWIRE-10 September 1999-VOYAGER NETWORKS: Network manager working hours on the rise (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
RDATE:090999
* Survey reveals average of 50 hour working week
Network managers are now working longer hours than ever before, according to a survey by Voyager Networks.
82% of managers surveyed at a recent user conference work a fifty hour week on average. Just under ten per cent spend an average of sixty hours per week at work, with only ten per cent working an eight-hour day. Over 90% believe this has been increasing steadily over the past three years.
The survey also revealed that 73% of network managers are often called upon to work at weekends. In addition to this, it is not uncommon for IT managers to be on 24-hour call. 67% of those surveyed said it was part of their job, or that they had been asked by their companies on more than one occasion, to be available around the clock. The need to work longer hours is most common among managers with large user bases. According to the survey, a third of network managers have overall responsibility for between 1,000 and 3,000 users. 20% look after between 10,000 and 20,000 users, and 13% support in excess of 20,000 users.
"Increasingly complex IT environments and new technologies such as VoIP, e-commerce and other Web-enabled solutions are generating an ever-widening range of network management issues for companies," said Nigel Williams, marketing director at Voyager Networks. "This means that network managers are experiencing burgeoning workloads and working longer hours than ever before. This is an important issue that businesses need to address, especially in light of the 48-hour week EU work directive."
"The results of this survey beg the question of whether organisations are involving network managers enough in the planning and implementation of new technology projects. If this was done a little more, then perhaps they would spend less time picking up the pieces," added Williams.

About SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM
WWW.SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM is a service designed to help bonafide shareholders of publicly traded US companies fight short selling. SqueezeTrigger.com has built a proprietary database that uses Threshold list feeds and short sale time and sale data from NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE to generate detailed and useful information to combat the short selling problem. For the first time, actual trade by trade data is available to the public that shows the attempted size, actual size, price and average value of short sales in stocks that have been shorted. This information is valuable in determining the precise point at which short sellers go out-of-the-money and start losing on their short trades.
SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM has built a massive database that collects, analyzes and publishes a proprietary SqueezeTrigger for each stock that has been shorted. The SqueezeTrigger database of nearly 2.5 billion short sale transactions goes back to January 1, 2005 and calculates the exact price at which the Total Short Interest is short in each stock. This data was never before available prior to January 1, 2005 because the Self Regulatory Organizations (primary exchanges) guarded it aggressively. After the SEC passed Regulation SHO, exchanges were forced to allow data processors like SqueezeTrigger.com to access the data.
The SqueezeTrigger database collects individual short trade data on over 7,000 NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks and general short trade data on nearly 8,000 OTCBB and PINKSHEET stocks. Each month the database grows by approximately 50,000,000 short sale transactions and provides investors with the knowledge necessary to time when to buy and sell stocks with outstanding short positions. By tracking the size and price of each montha'a"s short transactions, SQUEEZETRIGGER.COM provides institutions, traders, analysts, journalists and individual investors the exact price point where short sellers start losing money and a short squeeze can begin.

Nintendo Files Lawsuit against Repeat Piracy Offender.
In the ongoing fight against video game piracy worldwide, Nintendo of America Inc. has filed a civil lawsuit against the owner of multiple websites that sell illegal video game copiers. Nintendo filed suit on May 11 in the Western District of Washington against the owner of NXPGAME of Queens, New York.
Nintendo investigated a website owned by NXPGAME and found that it was selling illegal video game copiers that enable the user to download, play and distribute illegal copies of Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo DSi™ video game software. After multiple letters and telephone calls from Nintendo's legal counsel, the owner agreed to cease selling game copiers and closed his website. Shortly thereafter, the owner launched an identical business at a different website address, and redirected people who visited his old site to the new one to purchase illegal game copiers.
Despite the repeated attempts to get NXPGAME Inc. to cease its illegal activities, the company and its owner continue to operate multiple websites that sell illegal game copiers. Nintendo asserts that NXPGAME is willfully infringing on the company's intellectual property rights. Additionally, one of the company's websites uses Nintendo registered trademarks and violates Nintendo's copyrights.
"Using game copiers to play unauthorized downloaded games is illegal and it's wrong," said Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo of America's senior director of Anti-Piracy. "Piracy is especially harmful to smaller developers. When their creative works are stolen and copied illegally, some companies find it difficult to survive economically."
Internet piracy hurts Nintendo, as well as the businesses of more than 1,400 video game-development companies that depend on legitimate sales of games for their survival.
"I love gaming and I spent years of hard work and a significant personal financial investment to make my video game dream a reality," said Alex Neuse, CEO of Gaijin Games, the developer of the BIT.TRIP series of games available on the WiiWare™ service. "But I estimate that more than 70 percent of our games that are in the hands of the public have been copied illegally. Every download that is made illegally is another blow against new and original games. Put simply, if you enjoy a company's games, paying for them helps to ensure that they will continue to make products you'll like. Piracy especially hurts small independent developers who don't command the sales figures/profits that the bigger companies do; and that ultimately hurts not only developers but all gamers."
This lawsuit follows the 2009 Nintendo v. Chan case, in which a U.S. District Court in Los Angeles confirmed that game copiers violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and are deemed illegal in the United States. The U.S. District Court ruled that devices such as the R4 copier infringe on Nintendo's intellectual property rights. In that case, the court ordered Chan and the three major websites that he operated to stop selling the illegal devices immediately.
Game copiers are designed to connect to the Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DSi hand-held systems and circumvent the technological protection measures embedded in the system. This infringes on Nintendo's intellectual property rights. These game copiers are then used to copy and play illegal Nintendo game files offered unlawfully via the Internet.
Illegal copying of video game software is an international problem that continues to plague the video game industry. Companies such as Nintendo, various law-enforcement authorities and trade organizations like the Entertainment Software Association continue to take aggressive steps to prevent the proliferation of these devices on a global scale, and similar results are being achieved in many countries. Since 2009, Nintendo has supported almost 1,500 legal actions (including customs seizures, law-enforcement actions and civil proceedings) in more than 20 countries that have resulted in the confiscation of more than 422,000 video game copiers.

Lakeville prime commercial property being sold at Ritchie Bros. unreserved public auction.
Jackson Landscape Supply's 25+/- -acre property along with hundreds of heavy equipment items and real estate from other owners will be sold to highest bidders
LAKEVILLE, MN, June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A well-known area in the city, the property where Lakeville-based Jackson Landscape Supply Inc. held its operations for more than 35 years, will be sold at the upcoming Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Minneapolis, Minnesota unreserved public auction on June 18, 2009. The 25+/- -acre property is located at 10906 162nd Street West in Lakeville, near Lee Lake, and it will be sold to the highest bidder on auction day with no minimum bid or reserve price. The Lakeville commercial property forms part of a larger unreserved industrial auction in which Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA) will sell hundreds of heavy equipment items as well as a selection of real estate items.
"The Jackson Landscape property is a prime piece of commercial land with great visibility from I-35," said Andy Artley, Ritchie Bros. Regional Manager. "Those interested in the property should register to bid at our auction because on auction day it's the competitive bidding process that determines the final price of the property. It will sell to the highest bidder, regardless of price. There is no charge to register to bid."
William Jackson, owner of Jackson Landscape Supply Inc., grew up on the property - where his father used to operate a dairy farm. In 1975, Mr. Jackson purchased the land from his father and began a landscape supply business. For more than 35 years, Jackson Landscape Supply Inc. has been accommodating contractors and retailers from their location at the intersection of I-35W (coming from Minneapolis) and I-35E (coming from St. Paul). Jackson Landscape Supply provides a variety of services to customers in the metro-Minneapolis area, including residential and commercial delivery truck rentals as well as residential/commercial hydro seeding and screening - all run from the company's Lakeville property.
According to Mr. Jackson, the sale of the Jackson Landscape Supply property comes at an opportune time as he has made other plans for his business. "We've had a good run from a great location in Lakeville and we will continue to operate from a farm in southern Minnesota."
As a long-time Ritchie Bros. customer, he is confident that the property will sell at its true market value. "While we've had a 'for sale' sign up for some time, we have not added the property to real estate listings. When we decided that it was time to make things happen, we thought of a Ritchie Bros. auction because we know it will be sold," added Mr. Jackson. "The auction of my property will give the new buyer a fantastic opportunity to own commercial ground at a great location, with beautiful amenities."
The 25+/- -acre property is located about a 15-minute drive from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Two major freeways and approximately 10 acres of water from Lee Lake surround the property on 162nd Street West.
The one-day unreserved auction being held at the Ritchie Bros. new auction site in Medford, MN also features a selection of hydraulic and rough terrain cranes, hydraulic excavators, agricultural tractors, combines, motor scrapers, compaction machinery, truck tractors and trailers from more than 110 sellers. In addition to the Jackson Landscape property, other real estate items featured in the June 18 Minneapolis auction include commercial/industrial land in Burnsville and residential acreages near Big Lake and Brainerd. Like all Ritchie Bros. auctions, every item will be sold on an unreserved basis - meaning there will be no minimum bids or reserve prices and everything will sell to the highest bidder on sale day, regardless of price.
HOW TO BID
There are three ways to bid on the Jackson Landscape property as well as the other real estate properties and equipment items at the upcoming Minneapolis auction on June 18:
1. Attend the Minneapolis auction in person at 6000 Frontage Road W., Medford, MN, starting at 8:00 a.m. (Central Time) 2.
