SYDNEY, Feb 10 AAP - Main stories in ABC's World Today Program:
* The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) discussing mental health issues and
measures to address the crisis of young people in nursing homes. Prime Minister John Howard
says today's meeting is about trying to reverse some of the mistakes of the past, and
setting up an action plan on mental health. Victoria's Premier Steve Bracks says when
it comes to paying for mental health the Commonwealth is offering up no new money.
* The Mental Health Council of Australia's chief executive John Mendoza says he is
not expecting a firm commitment on spending from today's COAG meeting.
* Tasmania's Premier Paul Lennon faces accusations of a possible conflict of interest
over business dealings with a family member after a newspaper report says the company
run by the premier's brother has been awarded more than $100,000 worth of government funded
contracts. It is claimed the contracts come from departments for which the premier had
responsibility.
